Abstract
ABSTRACT Background: Calcium is an essential mineral that plays a role in bone and tooth formation and maintains the body's physiological functions. Consumption of tea containing caffeine and oxalate is thought to affect calcium excretion through urine. Increased urinary calcium excretion can lead to reduced calcium reserves in the body and increase the risk of osteoporosis, especially in women. Methods: This study used a descriptive method to determine the urinary calcium profile in female tea drinkers in Pasar Pedati Village, Central Bengkulu. The study sample consisted of 40 female tea drinkers in Hamlet 2, Pasar Pedati Village, Central Bengkulu. Urine calcium examination was performed using the Sulkowitch method, and data analysis was performed univariately. Objective: To determine the urinary calcium profile in female tea drinkers in Pasar Pedati Village, Central Bengkulu, and to understand the habits of female tea drinkers in Pasar Pedati Village, Central Bengkulu. Results: The study showed that of the 40 respondents, 28 (70%) had positive urine calcium results and 12 (30%) had negative results. Based on tea drinking habits, 34 respondents (85%) drank one cup of tea per day, and 6 respondents (15%) drank approximately two cups per day. Discussion: This research was conducted in Hamlet 2, Pasar Pedati Village, Central Bengkulu. The study involved 40 respondents. The results showed that 28 respondents (70%) tested positive for urinary calcium, while 12 respondents (30%) tested negative for urinary calcium. The Sulkowitch method was used. Positive urine calcium is indicated by the presence of cloudiness in the urine samples of tea-drinking women. Conclusion: Most female tea drinkers in Pasar Pedati Village, Central Bengkulu, tested positive for urinary calcium. The majority of respondents consumed one cup of tea per day. Excessive tea consumption has the potential to increase urinary calcium excretion, so it is important to monitor tea consumption patterns to maintain bone and kidney health. urinary calcium, tea, women, Sulkowitch method, caffeine. .
