Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of providing fruit juice (red guava and red dragon fruit) combined with pineapple juice yoghurt on cholesterol levels in pre-elderly hypercholesterolemia patients in the health center working area Pen Bengkulu City of 2024. The background of this research is based on the increasing prevalence hypercholesterolemia due to diet and lifestyle. This study uses a pre-experimental design with an experimental design method, namely the Randomized Block Design (RAK). This study is divided into into three groups: P0 (control), P1 (nutrition education and fruit juice), and P2 (nutrition education and pineapple yoghurt). Intervention This was done for seven consecutive days . The results show that respondents aged 51-59 years (60%), female (86.7%) and high school education (86.7%). The average fat intake of the control group was 65.1 and the intervention group 56.7. Before the intervention, cholesterol levels in control group 235 mg/dl, group P1 with cholesterol levels of 247 mg/dl, in group P2 with cholesterol levels of 253 mg/dl. After the intervention, the average cholesterol level of the control group was 229 mg/dl, in group P1 221 mg/dl, group P2 224 mg/dl. However, the Kruskall Wallis statistical test results show there is no significant difference in cholesterol levels of respondents before and after with a pre p value of 0.325 and an ost p value of 0.855 indicating no effect after the intervention.
