Abstract

Mothers have an important role as a determinant of the health and quality of family members' resources. Storage of medicines in the community, especially in household units, if not followed by correct knowledge about medicines will lead to irrational use and inappropriate storage methods. Method: This research is descriptive using the interview method. Descriptive research is research conducted to determine the value of variables without making comparisons or combining one variable with another, and then the data is analyzed using Microsoft Excel. Results: Shows that 66.66% of the 99 respondents, housewives, get their medicines at the pharmacy, 69.69% of the 99 respondents put all types of medicines together in one container, and housewives store more hard medicines. In terms of how to store medicines, where to store medicines and knowing the expiration date, housewives get more information from reading the brochure on the packaging. As many as (74.74%) housewives chose the reason for storing medicine because it could be reused, and mothers had a role in storing medicine. Housewives choose to store medicines in cupboards/drawers because they are considered more practical and housewives tend to throw away tablet or liquid medicines directly into the trash. Conclusion:The trend of storing medicines by housewives has beencarried out, it was found that storing medicines in drawers/cupboards has the highest percentage, namely 38.38% of 99 respondents
