Abstract

COVID-19 pandemic means a disturbing case with the number of confirmed cases causing deaths continues to increase and spread to various countries. COVID-19 disease is a droplet infectious disease from infected people and is caused by a new variant of the corona virus that was discovered in 2019, while one way to prevent transmission is to use a mask. An initial survey conducted at the Panorama market in Bengkulu City showed the low awareness of traders in using masks where traditional markets are places that have the potential for transmission of the virus. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of animated video-based health education on improving the behavior of using masks in panoramic market traders in the Bengkulu City area. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pre-post design with a control class. The sample amounted to 30 people, consisting of 15 people from the intervention group and 15 people from the control group. The results showed that the average knowledge of 61.33 increased to 88.00, behavior from 23.40 to 35.47 and actions from 48.00 to 85.33 after being given animated video media education with a p value of 0.000. It can be concluded that there is an effect of health education based on animated videos on the behavior of using masks in panoramic market traders in the Bengkulu City area. This research can be an intervention research to improve behavior in providing animation video media education to others.
