Abstract
Synthetic pesticide application dealing with A. aegypti population was redundant and caused negative impact, such as environmental pollution and A. aegypti resistancy. Alelochemical found on plant, for instance, on leaf of E. riparium is valuable as an alternative pesticide replacing synthetic pesticide. The aims of this research are to find out the toxicity of leaf extract of E. riparium on A. aegypti larvae and to define the effect of sub lethal concentration on pupae development. The research was held at the Ecology and Biosystematics Laboratory of Biology Department of Diponegoro University from May until July 2006. Research design was used Complete Randomized Design with 7 concentrations and 4 replications. Toxicity test was analyzed by Probit Analysis. Data of toxicity test and sub lethal effect test were analyzed by ANOV A and Multiple Range Test Duncan of a = 5%. The result showed leaf extract of E. riparium, which is contained saponin, tannin, quinon and steroid is toxic on A. aegypti larvae. The mortality of larvae gets higher as the concentration level increased. Larvae mortality as much as 50% in 0,014% (v/v) concentration (LC -72 hour). The result of sub lethal effect test showed leaf extract had significant effect on percentage of pupae's development. The increased of concentration level decreasing pupae's development percentage.
